After suffering his first loss in 10 matches since taking over Bafana Bafana, Ephraim Mashaba expressed confidence that the players will bounce back on Friday against Senegal.
Bafana lost a 1-0 lead against the Desert Foxes when they became undone by an own goal from Thulani Hlatshwayo and strikes from Faouzi Ghoulam and Islam Slimani in last night’s 3-1 loss to Algeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.
In the other Group C match The Lions of Teranga edged Ghana 2-1 in their opener, setting up what will no doubt be an interesting contest as the tournament’s group of death takes shape.
Coach Mashaba said that he believed South Africa gave the game away and that as a result the best team lost after creating so many scoring opportunities in the first half. Therefore “the result has made our work more difficult because the remaining two games are a must-win” he continued
The return from suspension of key defender Mulomowandau Mathoho and experienced midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane, should go a long way in boosting team’s confidence as they prepare for their second match of the tournament; while Senegal who are not only ranked 4th on the continent but also boost the services of EPL Southampton based Sadio Mane who is said to be an emerging talent who has the potential to be a star in the Nations Cup.
