Clive Barker was relieved of his coaching duties at Mpumalanga Black Aces, this was so confirmed by the club in a statement released on Friday.
Co-owner Mario Morfou explained that Clive Barker will be involved in the club’s academy, PSL reserve team (MDC Diski) as well as a scouting function.
Morfou said that the club reached the decision to offer Coach Barker a new role within the team for the next two years, largely because of the results that were not coming. Mpumalanga Black Aces have only managed to earn two points out of a possible 21 as they slipped into the relegation mix during Q3.
Jacob Sakala who is currently in a technical director function, will take over a the position of caretaker while Calvin Marlin was promoted to the role of goalkeeper coach.
Clive Barker backed-up the decision by saying that he felt it was a sensible decision by both parties. “The results in the New Year have unfortunately not gone our way and we wish the incoming coach and his technical team, all the best for the remainder of the season” said Barker
