Dikwena Smash and Grab in the Mother City

Dikwena Smash and Grab in the Mother City

You can throw statistics to the wind in this season when it comes to the PSL, and the match between Kaizer Chiefs and Platinum Stars was a perfect example of that. Dikwena’s win over Amakhosi ended a 9 year hoodoo for Platinum Stars who were yet to get the full three points away against the Glamour Boys since 2007.

At the end of the 1st half Abraw scored in optional time to end a  high paced stanza of end-to-end football, while Dikwena counted themselves unlucky to hit the crossbar earlier on in the match.

For the most part, the second half was Chiefs v Mzimela earning him a man of the match performance as he managed to keep Kaizer Chiefs at bay. Platinum Stars were not push overs either as they were only kept at a deficit by the upright on multiple occasions.

But it was the inspired substitutions by Platinum Stars mentor Cavin Johnson, whose decision to bring on Robert Ngambi and Elizar Rodgers produces an amazing smash and grab. With Rogers scoring a brace in front of his home crowd  of Cape Town.

Komphela finds himself 7 points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in fourth place with 25 points. As Platinum Stars close week 15 in fifth place with 23 points.
