The Tendai Ndoro Show continued with a brace scored in two minutes (35th, 37th) as Orlando Pirates made it two wins out of two Absa Premiership encounters, when the took three points away to Cape Town giants Ajax CT by the Zimbabwean international.
The match ended 1-2 despite Nathan Paulse consolation goal 2min before the hour mark which set up what was to be a nail biting finish for the Buccaneers. But Roger De Sa and his charges were left bitterly disappointed with this loss, after pinning the visitors to the ropes for much of the second half. By the 85th min the panting figure of Pirates goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo limned a fair testament to the pressure. This after substitute Mark Manyambela’s left footed strike went inches wide when a tenacious battle by captain Mosa Lebusa to keep the ball in play produced a glorious opportunity.
Coach Muchin Ertugral, whose team looked very vulnerable in defense in the second stanza, would’ve felt vindicated for opting to start with the young Justice Chabalala when the central defender produced a man of the match performance.
The win not only consolidated a place for Orlando Pirates at the top of the log after two rounds. But also marks the sixth win in a row against Ajax CT for the Soweto Giants. In fact it has been five years since The Urban Warrior managed a win at home against Orlando Pirates in a league encounter; and Tuesday night’s performance though promising was just not enough to rewrite the history books.
